Bella & I got to travel to Springfield, IL, in April of 2017, and share our experience, strength, and hope... our story on addiction, coming to my faith, and how our lives were together, up until then.
It was an awesome drive out there, just taking in the scenery and stopping at various places. I gave us enough time to get there so we had time to stop, and so the days weren't too long for Bella. It took us three days to get there, and I loved it. I loved the scenery and the people that we had met along the way.
We had a beautiful sunset to end the day where the event took place, at Bridgeview Park in Chatham, IL. We met people we had known through the internet for years, and were greeted friends we just hadn't met yet.
The next morning after this event was Easter. We went to a sunrise service, and Bella & I were able to go in together. Then we went through Springfield, saw the old new capitol building, Abe Lincoln's home and neighborhood, and his tomb at the cemetery. It was so quiet due to the holiday, and was truly awesome standing in the middle of the street taking pictures in the middle of the city.
I'll post a few pics and writings this week in memory and celebration of such an inspirational and eye-opening trip for us, and for me on a very personal level.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful memory of such a wonderful day... what a great close to that very special time.
